Beautiful Tourist Attractions in Mexico

-Naseeba Ramjan-

Mexico has a diverse range of beautiful landscapes, including sandy beaches, green mountains, and dense cities. The people and cultural blend of ancient, rural, and modern living styles are a stunning combo, making it one of North America’s destination countries.

A tour of Mexico could begin with Chichen Itza, The Mayan Metropolis. The magnificent Mayan city of Chichen Itza is one of Mexico’s most visited archeological sites and one of the largest and best restored. It is a popular day trip for those in the Yucatán capital of Mérida. One of the reasons to visit the site is to see El Castillo, also known as the Pyramid of Kukulkan, the highest structure in Chichen Itza at 98.4 feet.

The spectacular Caracol is another notable attraction here, a nearly 1,000-year-old observatory that demonstrates the Mayans’ technological prowess. The structure is famous for the thin openings in its walls that let in the sunshine twice a year, allowing priests to establish the date precisely. The site’s many statues, including various depictions of the iconic Mayan Chacmools clutching their sacrifice vessels as they continue to guard these ancient temples, are well worth seeing.

Another sight for tourists is the Palenque. It is another notable example of Mayan civilization with essentially the remains of a Maya city that flourished in the seventh century and has some brilliant Mayan structures and monuments and numerous cryptic sculptures and sculptings.

Palenque is one of Mexico’s most famous tourist sites, with stunning constructions such as the Temple of the Inscriptions and the Temple of the Cross. Some of the fascinating pyramids in the world are located in Teotihuacan, Mexico. While the Giza Pyramids are undoubtedly the most famous, the Teotihuacan Pyramids are impressive. It is a Mesoamerican city located 30 miles northeast of Mexico City. The city, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, was founded in 400 B.C. and grew to become the region’s most powerful and significant metropolis by 400 A.D.

The city had been abandoned for generations when the Aztecs discovered it in the 1400s and dubbed it Teotihuacan (meaning “site where the gods were made”). The origins, history, and culture of Teotihuacan are mostly unknown. The mystery surrounding Teotihuacan makes it an easy choice as a top tourist attraction in Mexico.

Another beautiful place to visit in Mexico is Morelia. The form of this medieval city, founded in 1541, has remained mostly unchanged, and the entire downtown center has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to more than 200 well-preserved structures dating back hundreds of years.

Tulum is another beautiful city to visit in Mexico. It is one of the Mayan civilization’s last surviving cities that was once a busy seaport for the Mayans throughout the 12th century. The majority of the structures in this historic city on the Yucatán Peninsula’s east coast were etched into the rocky cliffs along the coastline.

Although it is an important archeological site, Tulum is also famous for its tropical beaches. These beaches, with a Mayan setting, provide guests with delightful experiences. Some other notable places in Tulum include the Temple of the Frescoes and the Temple of the Descending God.
